Coke Florida Celebrates Recycling Successes

Florida is home to some of the most unique natural landscapes in the country, from coastlines to wetlands, and protecting them has become increasingly important. With a growing population and steady tourism, organizations across the state are stepping up to strengthen sustainability in their communities.

This commitment was on full display on November 13 at the annual Florida Recycles Day conference, an event Coke Florida proudly sponsored and attended. Hosted by the Florida Recycling Partnership Foundation, a coalition of businesses and associations dedicated to improving Florida’s recycling rates, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection at Florida Polytechnic University, the event brought together more than 50 attendees for presentations, speakers, and collaboration around a more sustainable future.

Coke Florida had several associates from the Sustainability Team participate in the event. The company remains committed to sustainability, making a positive impact in communities through conscious engagement, partnerships, and business practices around four sustainability focus areas: Recycling, Water Stewardship, Resiliency, and Litter & Waste Reduction.

Coke Florida’s Erin Black, VP of Sustainability and Risk Management, shared an overview of the company during the event and its sustainability initiatives.

Coke Florida’s Erin Black, VP of Sustainability and Risk Management, shared an overview of the company during the event and its sustainability initiatives.

“Florida Recycles Day is one of my favorite events of the year because it’s so inspirational to hear what other companies and agencies are doing across the state,” Erin said. “Whether you’re listening to representatives share stories from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the Orange County Public School system, or Waste Management, you realize that there’s always more opportunities to partner within your community and make a bigger impact.”

During the conference, Keyna Cory, Executive Director of the Florida Recycling Partnership Foundation, shared her excitement for the day.

When speaking about the importance of this event, Keyna said, “I want you to learn something new and I want you to make a new friend, and everyone’s told me so far that they’ve made a new connection and have learned a lot! We’re thrilled for what’s going on today.”

Overall, the conference was a success, and everyone walked away with renewed energy and a shared commitment to strengthening recycling efforts. Attendees had practical examples, new relationships, and fresh inspiration to advance sustainability in their own communities.

Events like Florida Recycles Day remind us that real progress happens when businesses, communities, and agencies work together. Coke Florida is proud to support this work and continue building partnerships that move our state toward a more sustainable future.
